This film is a tribute, and honor, to the people that have taught me so much about love, family, and life. It's a short film from the most recent travels in East Tibet, with the ones I consider some of my closest friends and family. These people, and place, have given me experiences that have cultivated who I am today. They took me into their homes as a sister, daughter, and close friend.
The short film tells the story of Xiaobei, who returns to her home town after 10 years, because of resettlement procedures and to meet with the perpetrator. As Xiaobei grew up, in order to survive, she changed her nightmare into unreal but good memories. The perpetrator, however, made a fortune ten years later and returned to their hometown. A candle that was supposed to light hope, awakens a nightmare. The old town is like the spiritual world of Xiaobei, which was destroyed and in ruins, even if the demolition and reconstruction, the depth of the injury is still unable to be resolved.
Today is OK, but Tomorrow is Not
Nietzsche deals with the philosophicaland mysterious idea of “eternal return”: everything you have experienced will repeat itself, you will live the same situation over and over again, until eternity. What does this madness mean? If every second of our lives is repeated indefinitely, we will be crucified, like Jesus was.
